Vitriol & Violets chronicles The Algonquin Round Table, a group of writers and their friends who met daily at the Algonquin Hotel in Manhattan for the decade of the Roaring Twenties. During the course of their “ten year lunch,” Table associates Dorothy Parker, Alexander Woollcott, Robert Benchley, George S. Kaufman, Edna Ferber, Heywood Broun, Harold Ross, Jane Grant, Harpo Marx, and various friends gained fame and fortune as much for their acerbic repartee as for their achievements.  Vitriol & Violets follows the arc of the decade and the friendships through vignettes created to a great degree from Table members’ actual works.

Produced by Rainy Day Productions; presented by Artists Repertory Theatre as part of Portland’s inaugural Fertile Ground New Works Festival.
